As A Special Tribute To My Beloved Wife, Janae, For Her Dedication To Helping Over 50,000 Students Worldwide Learn To Read With Our Original Three Volume Curriculum At The USA Reading School Website, I Wish To Complete A Very Special Part Of Our World's Longest Cartoon Project. I Want To Begin And Complete The Section Of The Cartoon That Would Stretch From The Stratosphere Hotel All The Way South Down The Las Vegas Strip To The World Famous Las Vegas Sign! This Would Be Over Five Miles Of Cartoon Faces And Bodies Of REAL PEOPLE.
WHY DO IT IN 20011???
Janae's Birthday Is March 11 And With This Being 2011, And ELEVEN Year, I Really Felt This Was The Year To Do This In Her Honor. So Friends, Romans, Countrymen....Lend Me Your Faces. And Let The Fun Begin. I Will Be Drawing Faces All Over The Las Vegas Valley And From All Across The Globe. You Will Be A Part Of Las Vegas History!!! My Goal Is To Complete The Cartoon In Sections And HOPEFULLY And Slowly....Stretch Each Section Down The Las Vegas Strip Sidewalk Taking Video Of The Event From The Stratosphere To The Famous Las Vegas Sign. WHEW....A Lot Of Work But The Lady Did So Much For So Many...I Really Want To Finish What We Started On The Laughlin NV/AZ Bridge On Feb. 25, 1988....Or At Least This Part On The Strip.
Your Support And Prayers Would Really Be Very Helpful And Delightfully Received. If Anyone Wishes To Help With Getting It All Organized And Connected, Feel Free To Email Me At email@example.com VIVA LAS VEGAS!!! And Now ON WITH THE SHOW..........THE WORLD'S LONGEST CARTOON!!!
Here Is My SPECIAL FOURTH OF JULY "THANK YOU" TO OUR FANTASTIC TROOPS!
Vegas Artist On The Road To Breaking 2nd Guinness Record: The July 4th "THANK YOU" Tribute To Support Our Troops! With the addition of a special section to the World's Longest Cartoon including 1, 776 Las Vegas USA "United We Stand" Animated People, the artist salutes all those who protect our nation's freedom.
Inspired by the patriotic water, music and light spectacular at the Bellagio Fountains featured with songs like the "Star Spangled Banner"and "God Bless The USA", Cooksey wanted to acknowledge the dedication and service to our country of all our past and present military men and women.
So at exactly 10:44 PM on June 17, 2008 standing in front of the fountains, this Vegas Artist created the first of one thousand, seven-hundred and seventy-six cartoon people to join the twenty years of fun faces already residing at home on the World's Longest Cartoon.
Why 10:44 PM on June 17, 2008? That's exactly 17 days and 76 minutes before midnight on July 4th! 1,776 patriotic cartoon faces in 17 days and 76 minutes in keeping with Cooksey's first Guinness Record Breaker endurance event of 17 hours and 76 minutes on the Strip in the Bi-Centenial year. God Bless America's Troops and Their Families from Viva Las Vegas USA!
THE WORLD'S LONGEST CARTOON PROJECT TO CREATE AWARENESS OF 16 YEAR FREE ONLINE READING SCHOOL
WAS ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED TO DEBUT IN LAS VEGAS
On February 25, 2008 ! It Was To Include Not Only The Large Number Of Paper Rolls That Contained All The People Drawn For The 20 Years Since The Project Began On The Bridge Over The Colorado River Between Arizona And Nevada, But Also The Entire Collection Of Cooksey Artwork Received By Tens Of Thousands Of Individuals From All Over The World As They Were Captured On Paper In Hotels, Casinos, Businesses, Special Events, Private Parties And In Commissioned Work. The Original Plan Was To Have All Those Who Owned Cooksey Artwork To Bring It To A Remote Desert Area On A Designated Week To Vegas. Then The Artwork Would Be Placed In Long Rows So That It Could Be Filmed From A Plane. Thus The World's Longest Cartoon Project Would Have Concluded With A Big Celebration With Two Decades Of Loyal Cooksey Fans At A Giant Party In Las Vegas! But Over The Years, The Project Became Way Too Much Fun As It Gave The Cookseys A Chance To Interact With Thousands And Thousands Of Wonderful People From All Over The World. In May of 2007 Wild Bill Continued His Quest To Draw One Extremely Long Paper Roll Of Cartoon Faces From The Stratosphere Hotel At The Beginning Of The Strip....
From Here To Here
To The Famous Las Vegas Welcome Sign At The South End Of The Strip, A Distance Of Five And Seven-Tenths Miles Long. His intentions were to perhaps just finish the entire 20 year project with a big celebration on February 25, 2008 in Vegas. But IT WAS JUST TOO MUCH FUN! So The World's Longest Cartoon Keeps Right On Going and Going and Going! You Can Email Him At firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
The Beginning Of The Event Was Documented In "The Laughlin Gambler" Newspaper When Wild Bill and Janae Cooksey officially began the World's Longest Cartoon in the center of the Arizona - Nevada State Line Bridge connecting Bullhead City and Laughlin on February 25, 1988. With Janae Standing On The Arizona Side Of The Line And Wild Bill Standing On The Nevada Side Of The Line, Both Artists Made Drawings Of Each Other On The Same Piece Of Extended Cash Register Tape.
***FOOTNOTE*** BELOW JANAE IS BEING INTERVIEWED ON FEBRUARY 25, 1988 BY THE PUBLISHER AND THE EDITOR OF "THE LAUGHLIN GAMBLER" NEWSPAPER FOR A STORY TO APPEAR IN THEIR NEXT EDITION ON MARCH 1.

Here Is The Very First Picture Taken Within One Minute Of The First Cartoon Drawn On The Beginning Of The Completion Of THE WORLD'S LONGEST CARTOON Right At The Corner Of St. Louis Avenue And Las Vegas Blvd. South In Front Of The Stratosphere Hotel.
Wild Bill Approaches The Stratosphere On His Way To Begin The Cartoon. The White Cross Drug Store In This Picture Has Been In That Same Location Since Before Wild Bill Ever Arrived In Vegas In 1968! Talk About A Landmark!!!
**FOOTNOTE** This Carl's Jr. At The Corner Of St. Louis Avenue And Las Vegas Blvd. South On The Strip Currently Is Right Across The Street From The Stratosphere Hotel. The Stratosphere In The Eighties Was Called "VEGAS WORLD" Hotel and Casino. Wild Bill And Janae Were Allowed To Come And Go 24/7As They Wished To Present Hotel And Casino Guests With The Opportunity To Receive Personalized Caricatures. In Between The Times They Were Not Drawing, Wild Bill And Janae Would Escape Over To This Carl's Jr. And Plan Their Daily Strategies. It Was In This Carl's Jr. That That Wild Bill And Janae Dreamed Up Their Famous Pigeon Painting Routine Which They Performed At Ballys Hotel For The David Letterman Show Which Was Broadcasting His NBC Nightly Program Live. The Staff Was So Impressed With Wild Bill And Janae's Three Pigeons Who Creatively Painted Beautiful Artwork On Real Canvas That Wild Bill And Janae Were Invited To Come To New York To Have The Birds Perform On The Show. Meanwhile, The Three Talented Birds Painted A Limited Number Of Special Pieces Of Art Especially For Vegas VIPs. Some Of Those Who Became Proud Owners Of Original Pigeon Paintings Included Frank Sinatra, Red Skelton And Lou Rawls. Because Of This Carl's Jr. Being Such An Important Landmark In The Art Careers Of Wild Bill And Janae, It Was No Coincidence Wild Bill Choose This Hotel Directly Across From The Carl's Jr. To Begin The Completion Of THE WORLD'S LONGEST CARTOON.
Along With The White Cross Store Landmark, Also Pictured Is One Of The Recently Added Double Decker "DEUCE" Busses That Transport Visitors Up And Down The Strip All Day And All Night. Of Course, You Can See The Stratosphere In The Background Also As Wild Bill Is Making His Way To His Destiny With History!
Voila!!! Finally, I Arrived At The Front Door To The Stratosphere! Let The Fun Begin!
Oh, My Goodness! Look Who's Appearing In The Main Showroom At The Stratosphere!!! I Wanted To Put Her Face In The Cartoon, But She Never Came Downstairs To Pose For Me To Draw Her Picture! Maybe, Next Time, Christina!
Wild Bill Holds Up The First Cartoon Facing St. Louis Avenue!
Wild Bill Holds Up The First Cartoon Facing Downtown Las Vegas And DENNYS? Well...Cartoonists Have To Eat Too!
Now Wild Bill Begins His Journey South Off The Stratosphere Property. LOOK ! It's Everyone's Favorite Casino....THE AZTEC INN ! Trust Me, There Are Some Very Interesting Sites Between The Stratosphere And The Sahara!
Wild Bill Wanted You To Have Another Look At The Beautiful, Exotic AZTEC INN Before We Move On Down The Strip.
And What Would An Adventure Be Without A CIRCLE K Selling Gas For Over Three Bucks A Gallon? Yes, It Is Indeed May Of 2007!
Speaking Of ArtWork? If Wild Bill Were Not In Such A Hurry, Then He Might Have Stopped In To Get A Couple Of Cartoon Tatoos. Which Tatoo Shop Would You Choose?
Bingo! Ladies And Germs, Wild Bill Has Arrived At The Last Business Before Reaching The Corner Of Sahara And Las Vegas Blvd.! It's The World's Largest Gift Show? You Think? Well, It Is A Pretty Large Place And They Have Terrific Souvenirs! In Fact, This Establishment Is Where Wild Bill Purchased The Elvis Wig He Wore In 2000 When The VH1-Television Network Crew Came From New York To Film Wild Bill And Janae As The VH1 Tour Guides Up And Down The Strip. This Gift Shop Building That Takes Up An Entire City Block Was Once A Very Popular Casino Called THE JOLLY TROLLY. Wild Bill's Name Was Up On The Marquee Instead Of "World's Largest Gift Shop". Wild Bill Performed Nightly To Fantastic Crowds On A Giant Stage Doing His Music And Comedy Act After Breaking The Guinness Book World Record Further Down The Strip At The Silver City Casino.
Finally, Wild Bill Will Have Reached The Corner Facing The Legendary Sahara Hotel Where Some Of The Biggest Stars Of All Times Appeared In The Congo Room. The Beatles Even Stayed At The Sahara On Their First Tour When They Played At The Vegas Convention Center.
Once Wild Bill Reaches This Point At The Corner Of Sahara Avenue And Las Vegas Blvd., He Only Has 45,000 Plus Cartoon Faces Left To Draw To Finish This Section Of THE WORLD'S LONGEST CARTOON!
AND THE FUN HAS JUST BEGUN WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO STOP NOW!
Hey....That Las Vegas Sign Isn't That Far, Is It? After I Reach The Sign...There Is Still A Whole Country and World Left To Draw!!!
